Modern black barn in a summer setting

Simplicity and functionality are what currently distinguishes modern summer cottages. These assumptions were guided by the investor, who decided to build a stepping stone from the everyday hustle and bustle of the city, on a plot picturesquely situated among forests, meadows and fields. The location of the building on a hill in the central point of the area provides a perfect view of the surrounding landscape. However, it would not be possible without the glazing in the gable wall, which on the one hand allows you to admire nature, and at the same time provide a passive source of light falling inside. The modern summer house was built in the frame technology. The gable roof is covered with sheet metal, and the façade is clad with SILESIA boards from Wood of Fire, fired with the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique.

A summer house is by definition a place for family and friends’ holiday gatherings, however, it will be used only periodically throughout the year. The Investor’s concept assumed the execution of a wooden facade in such a way that the facade would not require periodic maintenance, allowing you to enjoy every free moment surrounded by nature. Therefore, when selecting the materials, their durability was taken into account, which will be put to the test in the winter season, when the house will not be inhabited. The choice fell on fired wood facade boards from Wood of Fire, which met all the Investor’s expectations.
